First Presbyterian Church of Sumter Bicentennial Logo
The First Presbyterian Church of Sumter, founded in 1823, celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2023. To create a cohesive campaign for the year ahead, the Bicentennial Committee reached out for assistance in creating a logo or brand mark for all 2023 marketing. The Committee requested the mark be recognizable to First Presbyterian Church, use their faith statement, and have the bicentennial dates.
The recognizable church element became the steeple of First Presbyterian Church of Sumter, the faith statement, "Glorifying God Forever" and bicentennial dates were provided by the church committee. I utilized white and "Presbyterian Blue" for the color scheme; also seen on the cover of the Presbyterian Hymnal.
First Round Designs :
After the first round of designs, the committee decided on the circular look. Their requested changes included centering the steeple, making the steeple lines thicker, and doing away with the phrase "Two hundred years." With this feedback, I started on the second round of design work.
Second Round Designs :
After viewing the second design, the Bicentennial Committee approved the overall look but still had a few changes in mind. This time around, they thought it nice to add the word bicentennial and opted out of having the city and state name in the logo mark. They also requested the option of a blue circle surrounding the white background mark.
